Rev. Maiga

Virginia Officiant - Wedding Minister & Celebrant MaigaSince 2014, Maiga has been honored to officiate the weddings, recommitment ceremonies, and baby welcomings for hundreds of couples. Her career as a wedding officiant grew out of teaching yoga. Yoga students began organically approaching her to create rituals and ceremonies to mark life transitions. It was a perfect fit to then join the team at Ceremony Officiants, where she continued crafting personal ceremonies reflecting her clients.

Maiga’s work as a writer makes her a natural storyteller for her officiating clients. It’s one of her great joys to hear the story of how love was created between two people, and then reflect that back in their wedding ceremony. When she’s not writing original wedding ceremonies, Maiga engages with a range of writing and has been published on several platforms.

PVirginia Wedding Officiant MaigaMaiga’s work is creating containers for people to grow and be witnessed in their growth. Wedding ceremonies are powerful portals where communities gather to honor and support the love of a couple. While life is currently caring for family and honoring new families as an officiant, Maiga also has a professional past in creating yoga retreats domestically and internationally.

When not officiating, Maiga now cares for her young children. In 2021, when her daughter, Twyla, was 2, Maiga moved to coastal Virginia so her children could grow up near their extended family. In 2022 she birthed twin boys. Her youngest son, Trus, was stillborn, a tragedy that has reshaped her and her families lives. Her surviving twin son, Wes, is an utter joy.
